#OSCNation: An OSC’s Wish List

For many home builders and developers, the role of the Online Sales Counselor (or Internet Sales Specialist) has become indispensable. Some organizations are seeing 30 percent or more of total annual sales originate with the OSC. But that doesn’t happen magically. OSCs put in a LOT of hours to warm up a lead – emailing, calling, texting, creating video, doing research – not to mention keeping all the data organized.

So what makes an OSC’s life easier? What tools do they love to get the job done? We posed this question to the Selling New Homes Online Facebook Group. Here are some of the must-have tools for the top OSCs in the industry…

1) High quality, noise-cancelling headphones

OSCs can spend up to 70% of their time on the phone – sound quality and comfort are important. Here are two of the most recommended headsets that fit the bill:

2) CallRail

There are OSCs who swear by CallRail’s phone service. In addition to tracking calls from individual sources (website, banner ads, social advertising, outdoor, etc.), the service automatically records calls – perfect if you’re on the go and can’t get to your computer.

3) Apple Watch

As many have famously said, an OSC’s job is 24/7. But that doesn’t mean your personal life has to stop. An Apple Watch can notify you of a new lead for those few times that (shudder) you don’t have your phone. Whether you’re out for a run, or driving the kids to school with your phone stuck in your bag, with an Apple Watch, at least you know who to respond to as soon as you’re able.

4) iPhone

The Apple family of products seems to cater best to busy professionals. With all the syncing and integration capabilities of the iPhone, not to mention the choices of the App Store, this one is no surprise.

5) Video Email

When you can’t be there in person, the next best thing is video! Many OSCs find that prospects respond more often and quickly when they send a personal video email. It could be for anything – thanking them for a phone call, confirming an appointment, letting them know next steps. BombBomb is the most widely recommended in our industry.
